spent a weekend in shenandoah national park last month. it was hazy and rained off and on all weekend, not great for landscapes, so i spent the weekend shooting smaller details along the hikes we took.

loving number 1, has a very vintage/hazy/summer feel about it

I really like the first one especially!
The pp is lovely... What's the method?

Have you ever concidered putting you signature in a frame? I just slightly detracts from the images for me ... No big deal, just a thought :)

thanks. i'm not a big fan of frames, so don't use them. i've had a few photos magically relocated to other places on the internet. not much they can do with 900px and i don't mind much as long as there's a link back to my website.

the trees were done completely in lightroom, fantastic (and free) preset called vintage b&w. i think i got it from preset haven, but i'll post a link once i find it again. there's also a nice color version.

the flowers i did in photoshop. used a dupe layer set to screen to brighten things up. then a curves adj layer to makes the black point a dark grey instead of black and lose contrast in the darker tones. adjust opacities of both layers to taste, mine usually end up around 25-50%, but depends on how heavy handed you are in the curves adjustment. to give it a little more flavor you can add a texture layer or a solid color layer set to multiply or soft light. yellows or taupes work great for the solid color.

I agree, these are all very nice, but the subtlety of the first really stands out. Superb shot and PP.

thank you

What I like about #1 is the film-esque quality of it. Lovely shot. With the exception of the crystal clear foreground trees, the BW shots have a Holga-esque quality. Very nice set overall, Beth.

Brilliant ... A description of that effect that makes sense ...
Thanks for that ...

I know what you mean about shots ending up all over the Internet ... I suppose I'm past caring ... I understand why people do though!!!

Love the muted tones in the color shot Beth.

Was this the 60mm Fuji Macro lens?
