Hi! My name is Eric Swenson (Obviously, since that's the username). I'm 16 years young, currently residing in the South Bay of the California San Francisco Bay Area. I've been seriously into photography for only the last 12 months or so, as I received my Sony A55 about a year ago.
While without any formal training from classes of any sort, I've learned a fair amount on my own and with the help of many helpful photographers found on the internet (I am active at Dpreview and somewhat at Dyxum, though Dpreview has become an arena for rude and indecent behavior).
My photography has been focused mostly on low light performance photography at my school, though little of it is for public view (as I would want permission from the casts involved before publicly displaying photos of them). But I do have some of my photos from my trip to Alaska that may serve as examples for my current ability in a long journey of learning photography. They can be seen here: http://swensonphoto.shutterfly.com/pictures/8
Coincidentally... This may be out of place, but if people with experience in printing large, abnormal sizes (Say a 30x12 panoramic print) could send me a message and help me with some suggestions. Anything about methods of approaching it, recommendations for printing services (as I won't have the equipment to print it myself), image processing for printing at such a large size, and/or what kind of paper or canvas to use (and the pros/cons of each)... Things like that. The image is a 16 image stitched shot of Denali (Mt. Mckinley) from my trip to Alaska this summer, so a color landscape that can be printed at far over 300 DPI if not downscaled and printed at a size of 30x12. Thanks!
