CES 2013

Looks like I'm heading to CES in Las Vegas next week for work ;)

Looking forward to checking out the digital photography hall, and will of course take loads of pics of anything/everything I see.

Especially interested to see what Fuji and Canon have on their booths - does anyone have anything else they would like me to go check-out?

Not been before so expect I'l be suitably overwhelmed and exhausted after 2 days of gadget gazing -

The new film emulsions from Fuji and Kodak would be interesting as would the new film cameras from Fuji and Canon. Thanks Chris. (Not holding my breath, though.)

I'll mention it to the reps on the booths and see what they divulge Brian ;)

Consumer electronics show - manufacturers often use it to announce new gear - the camera I'd want a go with would be the Spny RX1 :)

Can't believe that work are insisting I go! :D :D :D

Oh well, someone has to carry the heavy load of responsibility....

Attended the last COMDEX there a decade back. Wear shoes for support and comfort—not style. The venue is unimaginably huge. Maps of exhibitors locations can make browsing much more efficient. No way to see everything, though strolling for serendipitous discovery can be fun as well.

Thanks Larry - points noted

I'll wear the comfy shoes, and have already started planing my list of booth visits using the CES iPhone App - should make things a little more efficient

Looking forward to seeing what everyone is bringing to the table for 2013 - I see that Samsung have already announced a 3D digicam before the show has even started!

Camera makers tend to make their announcements just before the show. Fuji—for example—should be announcing six cameras on the 7th.

  • FinePix S8200
  • FinePix XP60
  • FinePix T500
  • FinePix JZ700
  • FUJIFILM X100S
  • FUJIFILM X20

I'll get in there and try and get hands-on with the new models - assuming they let them out of their glass cases!

X100s eh?
X20 eh?

Should be interesting!

From what I am hearing, the X100s retains the same styling, but will have a 16MP X-Trans sensor, with both phase detection and contrast detection focusing. It will also have a new generation EVF and processor. I hear that the X20 will have a similar sensor but just 2/3"—no idea of its resolution. There is word going around that both will have some sort of manual focusing aid, but information is conflicting about just what. Oh, and while the X20 retains the X10 styling, it will be available in black and with silver a la X100.

The unofficial press release for the X100S confirms focus peaking, split screen focus, X-Trans sensor - new hybrid AF

Mmmmmm, looks like Fuji have been busy :)

Chris, ask them if it will be available in all black? If that weird guy in Edinburgh can get his X100 modified into an X100s? And when will it be on sale in the UK?

Ta...
