Cheap as Chips Challenge! RPF Photo Competition

yeah, shame about the slightly dear £10 battery i have had to order from italy
It takes a 5.6v battery...
Yashica guy does an adapter that allows the use of modern batteries at 6v, but i thought i would try an original one first then compare with a modern one after ...
its got a great rep as a camera so all being well, should be a nice addition to the collection!

Still no sign of my Oly yet.... It was meant to be sent out Wednesday... :(

Oh, Hamish, if I wanted to get film to develope it ones self, what type of film was it again that you explained to me the other night? CN something or another?!? :/

Is the Yashica ruled out the challenge as equipment costs will be above the limit (£10 for battery and cost of camera)

I believe it's only for the camera and the film Dave, extras like batteries, flash units, processing costs, or even pretty stickers to go on the camera are excluded. Lol
Camera (with lens I should imagine) + film... 10 squid :) :)

It's here!!

Was as dusty as hell inside and out. Have given it an initial clean and it all works and the lens is good.

Nice one Paul! :)

I've stuck some Kodak 400CN in and taken a few shots. Seems to work OK but wont know until I process the films. The light seal foam has perished though so might get some arty light leak effects. It's tiny but pretty nifty IMO. Zone focus is 1 - 1.5M, 2.5 - inf and something like 8m - inf with, I presume a more stringent limit of acceptable sharpness. You can EV compensate by changing the ISO setting so you still have some control. I'm quite impressed but not looking forward to repairing the light seal.

Funny thing though, the guy who sent it made the effort to remove the batteries, wrap them in a Post-It note and put them inside the film compartment. Thing is, they were completely dead! Why bother?

If anybody really gets stuck for a camera or film have just picked up a little halina 35mm instamatic and film for £2 from charity shop down the road which I will post on for the cost of the postage as I've already got mine

The baby ...... Has arrived!

Put my thumb over the exposure meter and took a shot (with no film) to create a long exposure so I can check the apature.....
