No way!!!
I couldn't find one of them for under a tenner!!
fair play if it works Daz, I've been on ebay nearly a total 3 hours today searching. still nothing yet :(

Yeah, I'll be in town too Hamish.
There's that frame shop opposite holland & Barrets that sells a few oldies in there. worth a visit if you've never been. :)
I've donated a few Halina Paulettes there a few months back..... eeewwww!!
but na, seriously, he's got some decent stuff. :)

Did you seriously think I wouldn't know about that place?
I've bought and sold a lot from/to there!
Nice chap, although I think I get on his **** a bit always asking to look at things!

Did it have a lens attached for a tenner?

The first EOS the 650 (I think)

When you get it, open the back, look at the shutter blades
Your looking for greasy residue on the blades ... If its there you have a good chance of it being a duff!
Most of them will have suffered this by now, pretty much all the early eos range do!
Unfortunately it means that the shutter doesn't open all the way ... Or is at least susceptible to not opening all the way... Meaning you get half photo, half black images ... Less than ideal :/
You can check it by firing the shutter ... I'm pretty certain you can see it happening...

ermmmmmmm ermmmmmmm ermmmmmm you talking total nonsense & i aint a clue what your on about Hamish :-) will reread your suggestion when it arrives lol

it was £10 from another site cough cough, guaranteed to work if not i can send it back, it has just had a new battery apparently.

Yes it has a lens as well for this price :-)

Darren: I have a EOS 750. Picked it up for $10. (Can't use it in this comp though because I picked it up a while back.) Anyway, mine has some residue on the shutter blades but it works good. At least for now. So there's hope!

Woooo Hoooo - finally bagged something - Canonet 35mm rangefinder camera - listed only as a 'Vintage Camera' :D

Couldn't bring myself to buy non-Canon - but man it was a struggle to find anything at the price!

For folks in the US thinking of joining in - shopgoodwill.com - Welcome is your friend - way cheaper than FleaBay ;)

Of course, I still need to see if it actually works when it arrives - the anticipation is killing me.

B&W film from Amazon and I'm ready for action (Note there are sellers on Amazon that do the film for a buck and some change, and charge all the real cost in the postage - hence perfect for this challenge... I'm just sayin' :D :D )

cough Amazon.com At a Glance: CONTINENTALSUPPLY cough...

What lens, Chris? I believe 1.7 is the fastest but a 1.9 is available and also, I think, a 2.8. (I think the 1.9 has the selenium meter around the circumference of the lens.)

I've bought several cameras from the Shopgoodwill site. Coincidentally, just got an old Wirgin 120 film folder yesterday from there. (Cost me $18, so its outside the paramaters for the competition--I paid too much for it.) I only bid on cameras that are located in the local goodwill stores (for me they only list Long Beach and Santa Ana) so that I can pick them up; I've found shipping from goodwill to be overpriced. Where's your's coming from?

By the way, if you're struggling to stay within the 10 quid limit (or US dollar equivalent) see if your local "99c Only" store near you. They may have the Memories 200 film. Its Fuji film.

Pretty sure it's the 2.8 - but the original posting was somewhat lacking!

It's coming from Seattle Goodwill - shipping was $11, so not bad.

Thanks for the tip on 99c stores :)

Do you have a pic chris??

My cam should be here tomorrow woop woop

Looks like a X100 to me! LMAO!

wow looks well kool, ................. its getting on abit though by the looks, even older than this 650 i have bought

Hey Chris,

Great minds think alike, I too have a Canonet on it's way to me, not sure which model it is, was posted on the bay as "Canon Canonet", and that was it, no description, nothing. So who know if it will work or not but at £4.99 I can't really complain. Heres a pic from the listing:

They do look like x100's ... Or more accurately the x100 looks like it!
Ive often seen it touted as the camera that inspired the x100 design

About 20 years older Darren!
