Cheap as Chips Challenge! RPF Photo Competition

Mmmmm, just been taking some test shots on the front patio with a roll of 400 Kodak that came with the camera.

It's sunny, so of course I'm around f11 all the time based on the camera's limited shutter speed range - so that has me thinking about creative DOF, which of course won't be happening at f11!

Mmmm, might have to reconsider my 400 ASA idea, and go 100 ASA, or even slower, for the competition shots.

This analogue stuff makes your brain work! :D

Unless you can find an ND filter within budget! ;)

I'm looking!

What are the available options for slower B&W films these days - as in slower than 100 ASA ;)

Too bloody sunny round here - that's the problem!

I'll be hanging about waiting for cloudy days at this rate - how many months do we have left to enter? :D :D

Ilford Pan F (50 ISO) - can also be pull processed to drop you a stop or so.

Pete - you're a genius - 50 ASA might be just the ticket!

Now to see if I can find it within budget...

They should invent a camera where you can just change the ISO on the fly, from one shot to the next - it would sell millions! :D

Hmmm isnt that a digital camera Chris lol or are you on about inventing a film you can change the iso of

What is this 'digital camera' of which you speak Dave - some new fangled gadget I'll wager! ;)

Yesterday I went to my local camera shop for some of those plastic negative preservers and, as I invariably do, I looked in the the little box of $2 expired films in the fridge to see what he had. Found an unopened box of Kodak 127 color film. 12 exposures. ASA 80. It expired in 1970. (Wonder where it's been since then?)

If I can find a 127 camera under a tenner maybe that will be my Cheap as Chips Challenge equipment. (I'll have to keep an eye on the exchange rate at time of purchase to be sure I don't go over my limit.)

how will you process 127 Brian?

My processing tank actually has a specification for how much developer to use if processing 127, so presumably my reels can be adjusted to the 127 size. However, if I did use this particular film I'd probably take it to my local camera shop for processing just to be as sure as possible it got done right. Wait a minute,....it's color! I can't do color, so I'd have to send it out. (There's a place that has a on-line presence whose specialty is processing old film types. Maybe I'd send it there if my local guy couldn't do it.)
