Cheap as Chips Challenge! RPF Photo Competition

You might be right, Chris. That line isn't completely straight, nor is it a continuous line, like some debris in the film forwarding mechanism would be likely to make.

Even so,....I'd vote that for the purpose of this competition such anomalies be ignored. (Unless of course, Hamish disqualifies you for running a test! :))

I'm doomed... doomed I tell you.... :(

Well it seems I didn't make it clear enough ...
Hmm I suppose I'll have to let you off Chris ... This once ... Next time I'll ban ya ;) heh

Seriously though, these scratches and marks are part f the fun of using this old gear ...
This challenge, in my mind at least, has always been about luck ... Or serendipity as Pete would call it!
Thats why I wanted the film to be included, and later in the thread said that only one film was allowed, it's part of the fun of this old gear... Finding its foibles, and working with them!

The scratches on your negs, if not from the pressure plate are likely a dev issue... May e try sending the next film (the one your entering the shots from ;)) to a pro dev shop! Have them do the scans, that way your images will only show camera issues!

Canonet arrived today, seems to work although aperture adjustment is a little sticky, but on close inspection on the interior, the inside of the lens has some gunk stuck to it. Hmmm, looks like a dismantle job or look for another camera. Shame cos it's quite a nice chunky camera.photo (9).jpg

While i had no luck on ebay last week missed out on six cameras my luck changed this weekend while helping my dad look for something in his attick i came across his Olympus OM10 Quartz. after a quick talk explaining about the comp and that he does not use it any more ( gone digital) he said i could have it for a fiver.
So now only got to chose what film to use B&W or colour

Put some new batteries in the olympus today all seems ok,
not been used for about five /six years
Only problem looks to be the quarts clock does not work

If it were me, Ben, and if I were confident that the camera was functional, I'd shoot with it anyway. If I am to be a judge--and I think we all are (not sure how that'll work) I'd look past any strangeness in the images that resulted from the noted blemish. But that's just me. Others might feel different.

It's an Oly fight off !!! think i'm outclassed in the hardware department though lol

I think Dave has created an amazing investment for the camera he has sold after use, and I was thinking weather it could be another challenge on top of the existing challenge and to see how much profit could be made from the camera used for this competition. Lol. Now, I think although Mr Moss has already bought the camera, taken pictures, entered them, and sold it already for a whopping unexpected profit, this may be hard to beat. But maybe we could push the boat out a bit more on this.
What ya think guys and gals? Or have I spent too much time in 'Dan in Wonderland'? :D :D

Too be fair, scrap that last post of mine..... I might like what this Oly may achieve resulting it bieng a regularly used item. It could be more Oly love for me :) hahahaha!!

Dan I was going to keep the Praktica as it was the first ever type of SLR I owned just when they offered me that kind of money for what is really an obsolete camera i couldnt refuse ad I got a lens for the F3 with the proceeds I will be watching the charity shops for another one though lol

Depending on the camera I pick up, I may prefer not to sell it. (I'm something of a camera horder, much to the dismay of LSW.)

on the other hand Brian i'm burying mine in concrete in the hope the world never has to see it again

LOL.

I looked that camera of your's up the other day, Davie. It might take great foties, who knows? But it's not the prettiest camera I've ever seen!

On the other hand,...maybe you'll change your mind if you win the competition?

I got issues guys and i need advice.

The 35-70mm lens that came with my canon eos 650 film cam wont Autofocus or even manually focus very well its feels very gritty and stiff and i cant seem to get the view finder sharp / in focus at all, however i try so i guess images will be outta foucs / blurry it is also quite loose when attached to cam.

I have taken some images just incase to see if it is working or not but wont know till i get film developed.

Luckily my EF lens fit my film cam. So am i allowed to used my exsisiting lens or not
