Cheap as Chips Challenge! RPF Photo Competition

Don't spend that much Allan film might be a bit more, unless you are given some. I just acquired six rolls for nought..............smiling.............now just need some thing to put it in..................Arrgggg the search goes on.........

I just realised that I have witnessed a Scotsman happy to pay 8 quid for something that might not work.....Hehheee, :)

Just dropped my 24 exposure test roll into the local dunk and dip merchant (CostCo) - should be ready on CD in about and hour.

The suspense! :D

The guy at the photo counter looked surprised when I popped the film canister on the counter, joked that my film would be ready in about 3 months... LMAO! :D

Mmm test shots back, no light leaks, but I do have a horizontal line running through all frames towards the top :(

Assuming a scratch?

Guess it could be in-camera or in dev/scanning?

Well, I can see some marks on the pressure plate - looks like crud - But doesn't line up with the line on the film...??

Will have to get something to clean it anyway - and give the whole film path another good wipe down and blow out with the bulb blower.

Can't expect too much from CostCo I guess - 1 hr - $5 for dev and scan to CD - wouldn't be surprised if the chemicals are crap and the equipment needed a good clean! :(

When I do my proper stuff, I'll use the lab I found to do my competition prints - just up the street, and they have a good reputation for pro quality work.

On a positive note - the metering on the camera seems to be in very good order - compared to my hand-held Sekonic, it was within tolerance for print film - or just margin of error for incident metering vs reflective metering.

And split/screen manual focussing can get in focus images - who knew! :D

Hmmm I think a test film maybe breaking the rules Chris

I was wondering about that, Hamish. But what if you buy a camera and find that its broken in some significant way that prevents you submitting? Shall we leave it to luck? (And disqualify Chris right now! :p)

I'd guess its in the development. Take a peek at the pressure plate, Chris. Any scratches or abnormalities there?

Brian - I took a closer look in Photoshop, and on inspection it looks like the horizontal marks were made while the film was wet.

Am I seeing this correctly?
